What to Expect After Beaming Aboard
A response to an application with acceptance or tips on a resubmission comes shortly after applying from the commanding officer of one of the dutystations. The commanding officer should help the new player with any questions about the dutystation and with getting the character slipped into the storyline.
It can take a while to get worked into the main plotline of the dutystation. This is a good time for a player to create "solo posts" - that is, posts that do not involve any other player characters - to develop their character.
Once in the main plotline, stories can range from space battles to defusing bombs to assassination attempts. They can also take on the everyday topics of overworking, barside counseling and family dynamics.
Without any hard-and-fast rules or dierolls necessary to play, it is dependent on each individual player to put writing a good story first before any personal gain for their character. For this reason "power gamers" who try to dominate other players are not likely to fit well with Borderlands. Storytellers and Trek fans, however, will love the freedom afforded by an open rulebook.
