Disadvantages of Borderlands
Some "disadvantages" of Borderlands can actually be taken as positives. For example, the lack of graphics allows for greater creativity and the small player base leads to a close-knit group.
However, there are some aspects that are simply unavoidable in an e-mail based game.
First, there is a lag between posting and getting a response, as every player posts when they have time. Sometimes, these waits can become significant if real life gets in the way.
Second, writing what amounts to several short stories several times per week can be a significant time commitment, especially if the character is in the thick of the plot.
Finally, there are often multiple storylines occurring at the same time, occasionally making it difficult to figure out what happened when and where characters should be.
The topic of money is perhaps the most satisfying aspect of Borderlands Trek. What extras will money buy? Absolutely none.
Whereas most "free" online games have some level of buy-up access to try to convince players to open their wallets, Borderlands is played and run completely by volunteers.
This means that instead of being badgered for money, the player is surrounded by others who love Star Trek, love storytelling and love the game.
